Kelly Jeffrey began “serving UCI” on August 13, 1994. It started as a small cappuccino cart in the breezeway next to the library. The original hours were 7 am – 3 pm. The staff was Kelly, and 2 p/t workers. The menu consisted of:

Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha, Flavored latte’s, Americano, Hot Tea (from tea bags), Iced Latte, Iced Mocha, Iced Americano and the bakery items were a jar of Italian Biscotti.
Over the next five years new items were gradually added:

Brewed regular and flavored coffees, Fresh baked pastries, Fruit smoothies, Ice Blended Mocha’s, Vanilla Chai, Fresh Brewed Ice Tea, Loose Leaf Teas and Fresh Baked Cookies
Around 2001 the location moved into the breezeway on the backside of the Cancer Center. Having more room to operate and add equipment more products were added:

Bottled Beverages, Expanded fruit smoothie menu, Expanded Ice Blended menu and Packaged Snacks
In May of 2012 the breezeway space was needed for the Cancer Center expansion. Miss Kelly’s moved into a temporary location inside of a large catering tent. On December 1, 2014 the new Miss Kelly’s Café & Bakery opened.

The most significant improvement to the new café was the addition of a small kitchen/prep room. This has allowed the introduction of “made to order” sandwiches, “farm to table” salads, gourmet soups, & Panini grilled sandwiches. What’s in store for the future of Miss Kelly’s? Stayed tuned
